Our Family
We both come from large and loving families who are very supportive of our adoption journey. They are beyond excited to welcome new family members into the mix.
Joanna’s family lives in Pennsylvania (where she grew up) but we speak with them often and try to make trips to see them or host them at our house frequently. Joanna has a sister who lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and children. Joanna loves being an aunt and chats with her niece and nephew regularly.
Joanna’s parents are loving and devoted grandparents. Her mom loves to bake and is always trying new cookie recipes. Her dad is funny, kind and loves model trains and wood working. While we are all spread out, we find time to get together as a family during the holidays or by taking family vacations.
Tom comes from a large Irish family. He often wows people by saying he has 61 first cousins—true story! Tom’s parents emigrated from Ireland in the 50’s/60’s so he has a strong connection to Ireland with many Aunts, Uncles & Cousins (& extended family) still living there.
His parents live locally to us and we are blessed to be able to see them regularly, hosting them for weekly dinners, popping over to their house for tea or helping them with projects around their home. Tom has 4 siblings who we are really close with and among the 4 of them there are 11 nieces and nephews. As you can imagine, family dinners and gatherings are loud, but full of laughter.
